Not only necessary, but at least in the Jewish tradition, actually commanded (Number 4 of the famous 10 to be exact). And yet, somehow, that doesn't make it any easier for us...
We are snowed in! I love it! Not being busy sometimes feels like a forbidden pleasure, like I'm cheating or getting away with something. My daughter tends bar in a small town. Some Sundays two church ladies come in sort of mid afternoon after they've done church then have run a million church errands to Walmart and all (you will be able to fill in the blanks here). They sit at the bar and split a margarita and just seem to feel so pleased to be doing something a little forbidden, without asking permission, something that isn't chores and good deeds. Let's have a day like that!
Shannon, I adore this image of the two church ladies sharing a margarita in a bar on a Sunday afternoon! Rest really DOES feel transgressive like that. Cheers to the the restful kind of "cheating!"
Rest is my only plan today. It is so needed. Thank you for the reminder that it is not only allowed but necessary.

Thank you!
